What TrustATrader is
TrustATrader is a subscription directory. You pay a flat membership fee and your business gets a verified listing — and, unlike most of the big platforms, there are no per-lead fees and no commission on the work you win. For a lot of trades, that alone is a genuine point in its favour.
The headline differentiator is scarcity. TrustATrader's terms cap membership at no more than 10 businesses per trade, per area — so your listing sits in a shorter line than it would on an open directory where anyone can pile in.
The catch is what you can't see before you commit. TrustATrader does not publish its price. Third-party sites report somewhere in the region of £600–£1,000+VAT per year (reported, and unconfirmed — you only get a firm number once you're in a sales conversation). And the membership isn't month-to-month: TrustATrader's own T&Cs make it a 12-month contract that is non-cancellable and non-refundable. If you're also weighing up the per-lead platforms, it's worth seeing how Checkatrade's costs stack up.

A membership vs an appointment
A TrustATrader membership
- A flat annual fee you pay whether or not a single customer calls
- A price you can't see until you're in a sales conversation (reported ~£600–£1,000+VAT/yr, unconfirmed)
- Locked in for 12 months — non-cancellable and non-refundable, per their T&Cs
- Your listing is shared with up to 10 members of your trade in the area
- You still field, qualify and chase every enquiry yourself
An EzDealz appointment
- Nothing up front — no membership, no subscription, no credits
- A published, per-trade rate you can see before you start
- No contract and no lock-in — stop any time; first two appointments free
- Exclusive to your business — never shared with another trade
- Phone-qualified and booked straight into your own diary; no sit, no fee
TrustATrader's real strength is no per-lead fees. Its weakness is a fixed, unpublished cost you carry whether the enquiries come or not. EzDealz flips that: you pay only when a confirmed appointment actually sits in your diary.
What does a customer actually cost you?
With a subscription directory the sum is simple, but you can only do it in hindsight: the annual fee divided by however many customers actually rang. Pay a reported £800 for the year and land eight paying customers off it, and that's £100 each; land two and it's £400 each. You're carrying the fixed cost and all of the risk, and you're still doing the qualifying and chasing.
EzDealz works the other way round. You pay per appointment that actually sits, and because every one is phone-qualified and exclusive to you, they close far better than shared leads — sources put conversion on exclusive, expected appointments at 30–50%, so model it conservatively at 40%. Ten roofing appointments at £150 is £1,500. Close four of them and that works out at roughly £375 per job won — on work worth £5,000 or more.
For perspective on what attention costs elsewhere: advertisers currently pay £22–£37 per click on Google for trade-lead keywords ("roofing leads uk" runs around £26, "how to get more electrical work" around £37) — that's a single click, not a booked meeting. A confirmed, exclusive appointment in your diary costs £100–£175. The full model, the close-rate maths and every trade's rate live on our pay-per-appointment page.

Common questions
How much does TrustATrader membership cost?
TrustATrader doesn't publish its pricing — you only get a firm figure once you speak to their sales team. Third-party sites report something in the region of £600–£1,000+VAT a year (reported, and unconfirmed). There are no per-lead fees or commission on top; the subscription is the whole cost.
Can I cancel TrustATrader partway through?
Not according to their own terms. TrustATrader's T&Cs set the membership as a 12-month contract that is non-cancellable and non-refundable — so if it isn't bringing in work, you're generally committed until the term ends. Read the current T&Cs carefully before you sign.
Does TrustATrader charge per lead like Checkatrade or Bark?
No — and this is its genuine strength. TrustATrader is subscription-only: no per-lead fees, no commission. The enquiries that come in are yours to keep. The trade-off is that you pay a fixed fee up front regardless of how many customers actually call.
What is the '10 members per area' cap?
TrustATrader's terms limit membership to no more than 10 businesses per trade in a given area, so your listing competes in a shorter line than on an open directory. It's a real point of difference — though you still field and qualify every enquiry yourself.
How is EzDealz different from TrustATrader?
There's no membership and nothing to pay up front. You pay per confirmed appointment that actually sits — phone-qualified, exclusive to your business, and booked straight into your own diary. No contract, no lock-in, and the first two appointments are free. See the full model and rate card.
What happens if the customer isn't there when I arrive?
Then you don't pay. It's 'no sit, no fee' — the charge only applies when the customer is there for the appointment you were booked into. You're never paying for a no-show.
